Are Britney Spears and Fred Durst a couple? The Limp Bizkit singer seems to say so, though Spears has been spotted back in the arms of Justin Timberlake

Maybe he did it all for the nookie. Or maybe he's serious. But Fred Durst is addressing rumors that he and Britney Spears are an item by saying, in effect, ''You got a problem with that?''

The 31-year-old Limp Bizkit frontman is producing the 21-year-old singer's next record, so sightings of the two of them together have sparked talk that their liaison is more than professional. In a message posted over the weekend at Limp Bizkit's website, Durst wrote: ''All this stuff about Britney and me is everywhere. its like WHOA!! Anybody out there who has a serious problem with my feelings for Britney should just chill and worry about your own feelings for a minute. You cant help what happens in life because everything happens for a reason. I believe that. I am a good judge of character and so is she. It just happens to be a person that I would [not] have thought could make me feel this way. and believe that I have never felt this way, so there. If you think I'm going soft then you go ahead and think it until we drop this sick f---ing album in few months. We'll see what you think then.''

Reports from Spears' camp, however, suggest that the relationship is strictly professional, with her rep telling USA Today on Tuesday that their studio collaboration is the likely reason she and Durst have been seen together in nightclubs and at her home.

In fact, she may be getting back together with her old flame, Justin Timberlake. The New York Post and the New York Daily News both reported Wednesday that their spies spotted Spears and her ex together Monday night after the American Music Awards in Los Angeles. (Maybe they were commiserating over both being targeted for nationally televised embarrassment at the hands of the Osbournes during the show.) And there's a third possibility, reported by US magazine, which reports it's been tailing Spears, and that she's seeing both musicians.
