Spears and Star Wars queen Natalie Portman went head to head in a battle of the
smiles at America's hottest New Year party.
And while Britney stuck to her more familiar grin, Natalie went all out to
produce the widest smile of the night at the extravaganza in New York's plush
Hudson Hotel.
Britney certainly appeared to have put her recent love troubles behind her after
ex-boyfriend N'Sync's Justin Timberlake claimed they had split after she had
cheated on him.
She danced the night away and posed and pouted for the banks of cameras.
Natalie, meanwhile, proved almost as popular with the photographers,
particularly when she teamed up with Green Mile star Sam Rockwell.
And with her much-anticipated new film Cold Mountain soon to be released, she
reckons there could be lots more to smile about in 2003.
