Hey Ruben, My name is De and I am 13 from Lowell, Massachusetts and I had something I wanted to share:

As we know people have been criticizing Britney ever since she came out with her Baby One More Time video. Why I don’t know why, but people have opinions. Today I had an experience that made me want to write to WOB since this is the biggest site in the world. There I was sitting in my first period class when the school TV show came on. There was a segment that came on where the host asked students who attended the Lowell High School who were their idols. And of course the first thing that came out of the first students mouth was Britney Spears. I was cheering her on, not physically out loud but in my mind. But it came a shock to me when my class was dissing her. Saying that she was fake and all plastic. Well this made me feel horrible to know that people felt this way, especially to me, a Britney fan that had to take it while they were dissing her. But what I don’t understand is why people hate her. Has she done anything to hurt us? Has she made anyone feel bad? No, they just do. In people’s point of view is that she is trash. But to us she is the greatest thing on this world. I sit there being quiet not wanting to say anything. And you know why? It is because people have opinions. I have no right to make people think a certain why. Sure I might be disappointed but still. To me hate is a harsh word.

For example sometimes I say I dislike Christina Aguilera. Which I have been saying ever since she came out. But do I hate her? Well I don’t. It’s not that I hate her. It’s just that I disapprove of some of the things that she does, and her attitude on top of it. Other then that I have no right to say that I hate her. I never met her. But people cannot understand that about Britney. So, what makes her so different that people have to turn on her? Ever since that stupid rumor about her and her boobs, everyone has not gotten the chance to really know who she is, or be a fan of her music.

Is it fair that Britney has to take all this crap from haters? Of course not. I am writing to you WOB because I really think people should know what stand between hate and disapprove. I am a big fan of Britney, while some people might not be. I know people who like her music but don’t really like Britney. I know people who disapprove of what she does, but they don’t hate her. I have always loved Britney ever since her baby video. I had no reason to say, “Britney is fake, or a slut” because I knew it wasn’t true.

I even remember when I saw her video. I faked sick to stay home just to see her video on TV. Because I was introduced to this amazing artist that I thought was the best singer of this generation. Sometimes I get scared of showing people that I like Britney, I don’t like sports, rap, or anything that most boys are interested in. But I am into computers, and online. People saw me as a freak because I liked Britney. But now I have changed. I really don’t care what people think now.

If you’re a boy and a Britney fan don’t be afraid to like pop or Britney because you friends don’t like it. Britney is different to everyone. Either she is great or she is just disliked, it's either love or hate. But you learn to respect people because Britney is her own person. And everyone should be respected, including Britney.
