This video is so good, I just
felt like writing a review of it, share my comments and opinions in regards
to it. All I can say is, two thumbs up for Britney, I just became an even
bigger fan. This is what I am talking about, no sugarcoating, no
subliminality, straight to the point,
beautiful imagery and kick ass dancing. I was wondering for a while whether
or not Britney would radically change and jump into womanhood as she is
still stating that she's not a girl but not yet a woman. If you liked Not A
Girl, if you liked Overprotected, you will ADORE 'Boys'. At first when I
heard the single, I must be honest, I did not like it much, but hey, add a
story to it, add dancing to it, and it becomes your favorite Britney video
of all time.
The video starts off showing a party going on in this huge almost like
palace/castle mansion. DJ Qualls thinks he's on the guest list but he's not
and gets kicked out, the camera then flies up over the castle walls and
flies straight into a balcony almost Aladdin style where Britney is dancing
inside, the video then takes amazing shifts between a tudor style swimming
pool, a bar, a dance floor with a grand staircase and an outside garden with
a grand table that could seat over 40 people, I could also spot a Zebra.
Besides DJ Qualls we see people like Pharell Williams, who also performs in
the song, Jason Priestley and of course Mike Myers (Austin Powers) who is
stupidly funny in the video.
Britney really shows right now who she is and leaves NO traces of the girl
we used to know. There is no teeny bopper girlfriend sequence where they are
watching a TV monitor and thinking 'pathetic' of a news relay
(Overprotected), there is also no sweetness and innocence from the top of a
canyon (Not A Girl), this time it's straight to the point. Britney gives the
sexiest looks, the most wildest dance moves and is looking better than ever
in this dark nuanced music video. Directed by Dave Myers, the same guy that
directed 'Lucky', this video is set to conquer new audiences in the world of
Britney. Moving into a hip R&B beat, 'Boys' will capture Radio Stations
Britney would never have been played at before, the image portrayed now is
of a woman, and I'm really proud to say, Britney, you've outdone yourself
once again :) Two thumbs up ! :D. The video premieres tomorrow Thursday on
TRL.
