Samantha Fox says young stars like Britney Spears need to start writing their
own songs if they are to last the pace.
The former Page Three model says her own pop career would have been longer if
she had started writing her own material.
Sam rues the fact that at the start of her singing career she never learned
to write her own songs.
She says she would have stayed at the top a lot longer if she'd had the
necessary skills.
Speaking after the Miss Slovakia 2002 beauty contest in Bratislava, where she
performed, Sam said: "I should have learned how to write my own songs when
I was Britney's age.
"As an artist you have a greater opportunity to work much longer, carry
more responsibility and perform into your 50s when you write for yourself."
She added: "Ideally I should have started after my second album but I
was very young. Britney should begin to create her own tracks and start to
mature, otherwise after five years she'll be looking for a new career."
