Did The Papers Get It Wrong About Britney’s Circus
Newspapers slammed Britney Spear’s first Australian show, saying that her lip synching had driven her fans away.
So the star arrived for her first show in Melbourne under a cloud of negativepress; with her Circus show firmly under scrutiny.
After she played for the first time at Rod Laver Arena last night Matt and Jo asked fans to call and tell us what it was REALLY like: did anyone walk out? Were you annoyed by her lip synching?
We were amazed that 95% of the calls we received said that Britney and her show were great.
Chrissy from Brighton said “I think it’s just all the papers just making a big deal. They’ve been picking on her since she left the airport.”
Renata from Noble Park said “I have to say I did not see one person walk out. Everyone was on their feet dancing.”
Natalie from Somerville said it was “one of the best concerts I have ever been to.”
Natasha, who had won a coveted Loveseat by shaving her head on the Matt & Jo show had a frontrow seat for all the action. She said “it was amazing. Not just Britney, but the other performers were amazing too.”
Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback we got from Melbourne ‘The Herald Sun’ is still criticising Britney; “as a dancer she’s possibly the weakest link in her show.”

Britney always put on a great show.
She is one of the best performer of our generation.

Britney does not dance anymore. That much is true. I am a huge fan of hers and yet,it would be a lie to say that she dances like she used to. Rehearsal videos (or practise sessions videos) indicate that she can still dance very well. Hence, my question: why does she not on Tour or in her Videos? Anyone? I think it is either the knee injury thing (insurance will not cover her if she twists and turns) or medication side-effects for possibly bi-polar disorder.
I admire her for what she has achieved in terms of comebacks and she can still dance 1000 times better than me lol. However, while she does not dance less than other artists, she is nowhere close to what she used to be. I hope I am being fair here.

@ Kevin – I’m totally with you on this one – she can’t dance like she used to.
So please stop be a fans and stop blame choreographers and eveyone but Britney.
Most of her moves are 6 years old, she just change her dress and – wow – new tour.!
And the voice is always the same (e.g. same “toxic” vers on this 2009 tour just like on onxy hotel tour- i do get it -it’s playback – at least she could pre-recoreded the song for tour:)

@Kevin, I agree that I’ve haven’t seen Britey dance like she used to in her previous concerts, but I don’t think it’s bcos she can’t. Probably because the choreographers wanted something new. But I am hoping to see her Me Against The Music moves too.
@radar, no I don’t expect to hear Britney live. At least not while she’s dancing vigourously. If you had tried to dance like she does, and try to sing her fast songs at the same time, you would know that your voice will naturally go disgustingly out of tune, plus you will have a short of breath. So yes, I would rather watch her dance and listen to pre-recorded songs, than to hear her going out of tune. Audiences have different expectations for different genres of singers; for Celine Dion & Mariah Carey, we expect them to sing live, but for Britney & The Pussycat Dolls, we expect to watch them dance and just have fun.

with all hot dance moves and cool outfits.
I did miss “Gimme More” and “Kill the lights” on the set list though
but hopefully they will be on the next tour.
And Britney sang Everytime live in Denmark !!!
as someone who has been to all of britney’s concerts since 2000 she use to sing like 4/5 songs live even in onxy she sung shadow,everytime,i got that boom boom and touch of my hand she sung live for the nfl thing too even trl in 2003 she can do it if she wants too but i think its about baby steps she has been through alot as someone who suffres depression it hard to just get your confidence back it takes time!!
now the dancing i know she can dance ive seen rehearsal videos ive seen tour footage and shes dancing hard sometimes like in london she danced really good to radar i think when shes dancing to if you seek amy,get naked,toxic and radar she does good but ive seen her perform slave for you and its not as good as it use to be she use to hit the moves alittle harder and the cirus choreography is crap i think what she did on gma is better choreography wise but i think this tour is a warm up for her she has been through so much as she said herself she ran away from everything thats what shes been doing her whole life and im sorry if this disappoints you 2 years isnt enough time to fix years of pain especially been looked after by her dad at 27years old nearly 28 would you be back to yourself fully
@TERRI There is no reason to apologise for disappointment. It is just a fact that Britney is not the same dancer as she used to be. As fans, it is ok to express our views respectfully while being aware of the reasons for any change in her performance. We do not know the exact reasons and that is why we question. If we did not care, we would not ask.
I think it would be a confidence thing. It could also be the medication, if she is taking any. Either way, I hope she recovers and she becomes what she used to be.
kevin i know what you mean but why does she dance good in rehearsals then??
@terri: I agree with you. Maybe, it is that insurance will not cover the tour if she does complex routines. Maybe, she takes more medication when on tour. I just hope that she makes one video or one appearance on TV where she really dances.
