Britney Breaks Silence
Britney Spears has hit back at critical media reports of her Circus tour, saying she came to Australia for her fans.
The pop star arrived in the country last week amid controversy over her lip-synching stage performance, and soon faced reports that disappointed fans walked out of her opening show in Perth.
Spears has been keeping a low profile since arriving in Melbourne earlier this week, but she responded to the criticism.
“I hear there is a lot of controversy in the media about my show,” Spears said in a statement.
“Some reporters have said they love it and some don’t. I came to Australia for my fans!”
Spears is due to play the first of three sold-out shows in Melbourne on Wednesday night, and has been indulging in some retail therapy.
“Went shopping on Collins Street yesterday and got a lot of my Christmas presents. Melbourne is beautiful. Can’t wait to see more. -Britney,” she wrote on Twitter.
Aussie DJ Havana Brown, who is touring with Spears, said she is surprised by the savaging the pop princess has received here.
Brown said there was no negative reaction from fans and the media about lip-synching and lacklustre performances in Europe, where they toured before Australia.
“I think it’s quite well known that she has lip-synched in the past. I don’t think it’s any surprise to anybody,” Brown said.
“There was nothing like that in Europe. I think everyone knew what they were in for, and I think everyone should know here as well.
“I’m not quite sure what the fuss is about.”
Brown was personally chosen by Spears’ father and manager to open the Circus tour in Europe and Australia.
The Melbourne native gets the crowds warmed up for Spears each night and then sits back to enjoy the spectacle.
She said there was an “incredible response” at the first two shows in Perth, and she hoped Aussie fans would make up their own minds about the concert.
“It’s sad. I want people to be positive about her – she’s doing so well, and she’s looking so good, and the show is amazing,” she said.
“I want everyone to make their own opinion, rather than be persuaded by what’s been in the media.”

she shouldn’t have to explain herself, she’s been performing that way for years, the fans knew that, they knew what they were paying for, so no one should bitch or judge, it’s no suprise to anyone that she lip syncs, but is anyone here old enough like me, to remember milli vanlli, lol, they did that shit to, and got torn apart, never did music again, i guess times have changed and it’s more acceptable and expected now

Everyone knows that Britney lip synchs in all her performances. It’s more about putting on a great show then getting the right notes and singing live. It’s not like this is the first time she’s done it. People should be happy that she even came to Australia in the first place.
We all know Britney does lip sing, but she is really good at it because she never has gotten caught doing, like we don’t have proof she does because she is so good at it lol milli vanilli and ashlie simpson got caught lip singing but Britney hasn’t never gotten caught or messed up doing it and I hope to GOD she doesn’t ever get caught doing it and she is an awsome performer so I’m ok with it!

I don’t see what the big deal is why can’t or won’t Britney sing live. She is a singer so that is to be expected of her. I’m a huge fan but that is a pure sign that she is getting away with this lip syncing thing for too long. She will have to stop that or start putting on better dancy shows because right now she is doing neither one.
yeah that’s right robert, i had completely forgot about that, totally different story then and yeah kamron, she is very good at lip synching, the only way it even looks fake is when they show it on screen during the tours, cuz the screen is like delayed, i think, so therefore, her mouth movement are a tad behind what were hearing, and i’m sorry but when ashlee simpson got caught on snl, that was hilarious, but i give her credit for not running off in tears from embarrassment, instead she did a lil dance and laughed it off, so she handled it cool

as much as i love britneys concerts and i do believe me more live vocals would be the cherry on the icing on the cake but britneys the ringleader and she calls the shots.

I am a huge Britney fan. But come on everyone she should not be treated any differently than any other artist. She should be required to sing live as all singers should. This fake stuff is just trash! If you won’t sing live then don’t even perform. Britney is not the queen of the world so no she doesn’t call all the shots. She is not in any shape or form in control of her career, We are the ones in control and if she doesn’t perform for her fans better they will not stick by her. Except for the real die hard fans who would accept any thing and everything under the sun from her. I really like Britney and am not bashing her I am just saying this to better her as an artist she really needs us to tell her to stop this so she can really grow as an artist and tell her not everything is acceptable and she needs to correct some things.
@kenny cable i see your piont i wouid love to see her sing live more but im still so happy to see her perform and new music and videos this year maybe i am a die hard fan but the stuff she done this year makes her queen of pop in my eyes and her last video 3 is personally my favourite video she done to date plus her other videos and i think her circus tour is a massive success plus her circus album rocks and im sure we havent seen the best from her maybe more live singin she gonna get better believe me shes gonna rock the next 10 years!
Hey, I’m super glad she is back but I just wish she would be back the right way. Don’t leave the haters any way to bash her. If she sings live and messes up so be it least she is out there pouring out her heart to us. If she is scared of singing live then she needs us to back her up and tell her it is ok, not that it is ok to lip sync. We are really hindering her than helping her. She needs us to push her to be a better artist. She is queen of Pop but not the world as some seem to hold her up to be. I really am not bashing her I am really really trying to get her fans to stop accepting just anything and set Britney’s standards to where they should be because she deserves those high good standards because we all know that she can do it we just have to get her to do it.

That is true but for us fans don’t we want to be a fan of an artist who doesn’t get bashed for lip syncing? It is rediculous to even think a singer would lip sync unless sick.
I have been to the Circus Tour twice this summer.
Britney and the dancers gives a wonderful show on a very high & proffessionel level.
I think she has to lip sync because she dances soo much
Britney sang Everytime in Denmark – and it was lovely !!!
The Circus tour is more a show than a concert !!!
