Australian Drama
The Australian Government is contemplating a law that will require performers to disclose the fact that they’re singing less than live on the ticket.
Consumer Affairs Minister Tony Robinson told the Herald Sun, “We believe it is good business practice for concert promoters to make it clear to consumers before they buy tickets whether the performer will be miming, and make this clear on advertising, posters and other promotional materials.” Robinson also said that concert promoters could be prosecuted if they implied stars were singing live when they weren’t!

i have no problem with the foreign countries, but they treat the lip synching like it’s some serious crime, who cares, most artists do it, and everyone already knows that, so this is just foolish to have to announce it!!!

I don’t believe this is true at all. if it is, Tony Robinson is stupid. But I just don’t believe it. Aussies are very much like us (Americans), allergic to micro managing by regulations. Maybe Pink should give back the revenues from ticket sales from her Australian tour just finished.

I think Britney needs to get back in touch with her real voice anyway. All this miming sh*t needs to go. She has real talent, she should be forced to give her fans an authentic experience now that she is back on her feet again. I love the girl, but she’s 27, time to start singing live agian.

I’m sorry, but I’m completely with ‘Adam C’, here…& I luv this idea…Britney has no shame, so why should this be a big deal…it’s called integrity…u don’t want, or are unable2sing, alright then…but u’re not gonna’ steal people’s money with an illusion…I’m proud of Britney for owning up…that shows a lot of maturity….I luv this girl…I luv LUV LUV that voice, but she’s not 17, she’s 27…and soon, even 37…having an emergency where’s it’s necessary2Lip…ok…but not out of leisure…this is ur profession, if u can’t put in the effort, step out of the game, and allow for someone who IS willing to. Milli Vanilli wld still be around, and maybe even going strong, if they’d come out, now-a-days…tht shld send us a message of how low our standards have gotten…we’re not asking4Barbra Streisand and Gospel Genre style singing, but prove the audience tht the voice on the CD is indeed yours.

@ 6 totally agree, @ 10 kind of agree….@ 12 personally the only person i allow to lipsynch is Britney, because she just Britney, her music rocks, she rocks and no one can do it better, she’s gifted to be a lip-sycnher…However, she does need to start singing live, because her fans are drifting away slowly and I know why now, lip-syncing only takes you so far..However, I lover her unconditionally, and i hope this gossip, is just gossip, because everyone know’s britney lip syncs, and sings live on occassions.Britney you can do it……….

I prefer if a singer sings live such as Christina, Pink or Leona as much as I love Britney seeing her in Sydney Australia on the 19th November so excited she needs to give live singing a shot it will be nice to hear her real voice rather than a recorded one.

Trust me, every Australian fan is really pissed off with the media at the moment. It’s such a horrible way to welcome her to the country and she probably won’t come back now, which I’m really worried about. I’m seeing her twice in Sydney so obviously I don’t care about the fact that she lip-syncs. The only issue that I have is that she doesn’t speak to the audience much, but other than that she can do what she wants – it’s Britney Spears. I do think that at some point in the future she will need to work with her voice though and make music that she can sing live – she can’t mime Baby One More Time forever!

I agree with that Luke like I was so excited when she added us to the list! She might brush it off cause the media are fuckwits and her fans love her here we have been waiting too long for her to come down under.
