Britney was spotted in N.Y. looking stunning and amazing and hot and sexy and happy! She uhhh…Heaven!

After two days of madness and mayhem on the streets of New York, pop superstar Britney Spears took some time for herself on Tuesday night when she took in a showing of Broadway hit In the Heights.

Audience members at the Richard Rodgers Theatre tell OK! that Brit was ushered to her seat once the lights were dimmed for the opening number. 

“She looked really good,” said one theater patron about the star. “I saw her hair and her sparkly eyes.”

As the musical’s cast began to take their curtain calls at the end of the show, Britney was rushed out of her seat — but she it wasn’t so she could head back to her hotel right away.

“She came backstage,” says In the Heights star Doreen Montalvo. “She was so sweet and generous. She took pictures with the cast and musicians.”

According to co-star Robin de Jesus, Brit was “totally cool,” when she came backstage. “She was freaking awesome.”

That sentiment was echoed by actress Karen Olivio, who told OK!, “It’s always great to have another performer there for you.”

Last time Britney Spears was in New York — almost exactly one year ago — she finished off a wild night in a strip club by putting on one of the dancers’ thongs.

But since she flew in from LAX last night, her latest trip to the Big Apple has been a very different affair.

Instead of heading to the clubs to catch up with her scantily clad buddies, Brit checked straight into her swank downtown hotel to get ready for the busy day of high-level business meetings (and a little shopping!) ahead.

The newly fit and focussed singer started today by paying a flying visit to the Z100 radio station to talk about her new album Circus, before zipping uptown to the Sony headquarters wheres she was scheduled to meet with Barry Weiss, the president of her record label.

But after an hour-long sit down with the boss, Britney relaxed by spending an hour or so (and, it seems, a few hundred dollars) in super-luxe department store, Barneys.

“When she came out of the elevator, her assistant was already carrying an armful of clothes,” said a fellow shopper in the shoe department. “I’d say she’s definitely a fan of this place!

“Britney took a good long look at a pair of Christian Louboutin high heels ($575) and looked like she spent a long time weighing up whether she was going to buy a pair of knee-high black leather Fendi boots ($920), but decided against them in the end.

“She seemed pretty relaxed, twirling her hair around her fingers as she wandered around, checking out all the cute shoes. She looked like she was in her element!”

Brit finished up her spree in the cosmetics section, where she tried out a few different shades of lipstick before picking out just the right red, a Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited #190 ($23), plus their Nobara cream foundation #554 ($27).

Then she hopped back in her car and headed right back to her hotel — without a single second-hand thong in sight.

What a difference a year makes!

Looks like Britney fans will have to stick with Chaotic if they’re itching to watch the star on grainy videotape.

British-based Heat magazine reported earlier Monday that photographer/Spears-ex Adnan Ghalib confirmed to them he has a sex tape of himself with the pop star.

 However, a source close to Britney Spears is throwing cold water on the Heat story.

“The story is completely false,” the source tells E! News.

Spears’ rep at Jive Records has not responded to calls seeking comment.

Ghalib is also playing hard to get. His cell phone number is disconnected. His former photo agency, JFX, tells E! News that Ghalib “never worked for us” and has not been able to provide any contact information for him.

After dishing to New York radio station Z100 about her new “girl anthem” “Womanizer,” Britney Spears keeps things fluid while shopping at Barneys New York in Manhattan on Monday. The video for the single debuted during Monday’s episode of The Hills.
